08. Prosthetic Head 2007

Stelarc’s Prosthetic Head is an embodied conversational agent that speaks to the person who interrogates it. Modeled after the artist, it has real time lip-synching, speech synthesis and facial expressions. Here it presents a lecture titled ‘Avatars Have No Organs: Intelligence, Awareness & Agency’ presented in his absence for a panel organised by Steve Dixon and Sue Broadhurst on ‘Virtuality & Embodiment’ at the Fifth Annual Hawaiian International Conference on the Arts & Humanities.
